The Mycek Law Firm is a full service law firm with over 60 years of dedicated service to our Clients and the Community. Started in 1952 by John J. The Mycek Law Firm,
a local multi-generation family practice, serving the community since 1952, was initially founded by
John J. Mycek.
He was admitted to practice in New York state courts in 1952 subsequent to his service in the Marine Corps in the Pacific where he served from 1943 through 1946.
During his tenure with the firm, John J. Mycek served in a professional capacity as attorney for the Enlarged City School District of Amsterdam and for the Montgomery County Democratic Committee. He also served as director of the American Red Cross, director and vice president of the Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce, and was a member and vice president of the Amsterdam Board of Education. He further served as the director of the Cancer Fund, and was a member of the Montgomery County and New York State bar associations.
In 1987, former Gov. Mario Cuomo appointed John J. Mycek as judge of the Montgomery County Surrogate Court. In November of that year he was elected judge and held that office until his retirement in 1995.
William H. Mycek
was admitted to practice in New York State courts in 1982 joining the Mycek Law Firm serving with his father John J. Mycek. Graduated from the State University of New York at Albany - Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree. He completed his legal studies at Whittier College School of Law - Cum Laude with a Juris Doctor Degree.
William H. Mycek has served as School Board Attorney, Greater Amsterdam City School District since 1987 and has held positions as the Attorney for Montgomery County Office for the Aging, Montgomery County Democratic Committee, Village of Fort Johnson, NY, and various Veterans groups.
William J. Mycek
was admitted to practice in New York State courts in 2007 when he joined the Mycek Law Firm serving alongside his father William H. Mycek. He graduated from the State University of New York at Albany - Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree. He completed his legal studies at Widener University School of Law.
William J. Mycek held an internship in the New York State Attorney General’s Office working in the Civil Recoveries Bureau. He also held an internship at Harrisburg Civil law Clinic.
William J. Mycek currently is an Assistant District Attorney for Montgomery County and former Assistant Attorney with the Department of Social Services – Child Support Unit. He is the Town Attorney for the Town of Charleston in Montgomery County New York, he serves as a member of the Board of Trustee’s for the Amsterdam Free Library, and is the former Examiner of Guardianship Accounts for Montgomery County New York.

Mycek (father and son) continue to respectfully provide their Clients with expertise in a number of legal areas of practice.
